Birte Claire Højberg was born in 1942 in Grevinge, Odsherred. She grew up in close contact with the beautiful countryside and surrounded by her parents' big farm's rich wildlife. As a young girl with A-levels in modern languages, she decides - after completing the philosophy course at the University of Copenhagen in 1963 - to train as a medical secretary. As such, she worked in the department of surgery, the Deaconess, Frederiksberg 1962-1972. In the years 1972-76 Birte Claire worked with clay and stoneware.
She trained in 1976-78 as a Certified Chiropodist. She had her own clinic from 1978.

Birte Claire Højberg has, as part of her training, been to Iasos in Turkey in 1996, and seems to be inspired by this exotic part of the world: scene- and colorwise.
She is also influenced by Cezanne's color vision, in the sense that she is working with clean, bright colors, arranged in distinct brushstrokes next to each other. It is a case of naturalism, based on personal (and as experienced in dreams) visual impressions and experiences.
